What is the difference between Beam shelving and double-depth racking

Beam shelving and double-depth shelving, both of which belong to heavy-duty storage shelving, and double-depth shelving is a variant of heavy-duty shelving. Although they are very similar in construction, they are different in function and application, as briefly explained below.

First of all, double-depth shelving takes two sets of beam-type shelves side by side, which makes the warehouse utilization rate greatly improved, doubling the inventory capacity than beam-type shelves, but also to 42% warehouse utilization rate.

Thirdly, due to the deeper storage bay, the double deep channel shelves must be equipped with special forklift – scissor forklift to access the goods, and the forklift channel needs to be about 3.3 meters. The beam type shelves can be operated by ordinary forklift.

Fourthly, as the double-deep shelves consist of two sets of beam shelves, the selection rate is only 50%, so it is difficult to use the first-in-first-out access method and complete the first-in-first-out.

Finally, the construction cost of each bay of double deep channel shelves is the lowest cost one shelf system among all three-dimensional warehouse systems. For products with few storage categories and huge quantity, double deep channel shelving is the choice of quality and low cost.
